More than 5,000 Muslims will be making this year’s Hajj to their Holy City of Mecca, during the first week of September.

Alhaji Abdul-Rauf  Ibrahim Tanko, National Hajj Chairman, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at his office at the Hajj Village near the Kotoka International Airport, said in all, 12 flights, each with 450 passengers on board, will be involved in the Hajj,  slated for September 5 to 16.

Alhaji Tanko advised the pilgrims to ensure that their traveling documents were processed early enough, in order to avoid disappointment at the eleventh hour, only to be told that they could not undertake the trip, simply because their   documents were not fully processed.

He said the Hajj Board was doing all it could,  to ensure that Muslims undertook the pilgrimage without hassles.

The National Hajj Chairman expressed the Board’s profound appreciation to public-spirited individuals and organizations for their kind donations to facilitate its activities.

On challenges facing the Board,  Alhaji Tanko said, its biggest problem was the lack of permanent structures at the village, and was optimistic that sooner than later, the village would have permanent buildings for office accommodation and others.
