NPP's Pro-Feminine Approach Is A Recipe For Total Disaster; They Want To Lose 2016 - Ben Ephson

Renowned Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson has drawn a conclusion that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) loves to remain in opposition in the 2016 election with its pro-feminine agenda approach in their coming Parliamentary Primaries.

The National Executive Council in its meeting to choose a date for the Parliamentary Primaries has adopted a proposal for only female aspirants to contest the 16 female Members of Parliament in their respective constituencies.

Similarly, the following coastal constituencies in the Greater Accra Region should be contested by Ga indigenes except in exceptional circumstances:

Ngleshie Amanfrom, Ablekuma South, Odododiodio, Korle Klottey, La Dade Kotopon, Ledzokuku, Krowor, Tema East, Tema West, Kpone Katamanso, Amasaman and Obom Domeabra.

Commenting on the NPP NEC adopted proposal, Ben Ephson on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show said the decision is a recipe for disaster as their approach simply means they love to be in opposition come 2016.

Suggesting the better approach in the agenda to increase women MP’s, Ben Ephson suggested the NPP should have set aside their 100 safe seats out of the 275 seats and randomly pick 30 seats out of them for only women to contest as it is the only way to maintain peace and order in the party.

He insisted that this will fix the argument that the NPP want more women MPs but to him two things are likely to happen if the NPP insists that the incumbent female MPs should not be challenged in their upcoming Parliamentary Primaries.

He indicated that a potential aspirant is likely to go to court to test the legality of what the NPP National Executive Council has done; adding NPP will lose all those seats being headed by their female incumbent MPs because some politically ambitious aspirants will contest those seats as independent candidates thus splitting the votes for NDC to win those seats.

So they are just preparing the grounds to lose more seats. When it comes to other aspect that if you are not indigenes in those constituencies you should not contest, if the person contest the indigenes as independent candidate, you will lose the seat….I don’t know but maybe they want to remain in opposition; they have put in place a mechanism which will make them lose….this is a recipe for total disaster,” he asserted.
