Eighty seven (87) Assembly Member aspirants in the Ashanti Region are threatening to sue, Electoral Commission and its boss, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan for a refund of monies they spent to campaign.
A Supreme Court ruling cancelled the organization of the District Level elections with few days to go.
The reason, the court said, was that the EC Boss, Dr. Afari Gyan did not wait for the maturation of a Constitutional Instrument (CI) before closing nominations. This action, the disappointed Assembly members told Adom News dearly affected them and their finances.
They thus announced at a press conference in the Garden City of their intention to drag the commission and its chairman to court for a refund of the amount they spent on campaigning.
“Kwadwo Afari Gyan ignored all advised and now we have incurred huge debts…we are taking him to court for him to be instructed to refund our money for us…,” some of them said.
