The Director of Technical Operations of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), has urged Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to step up their efforts at promoting good political and economic governance, the keys to rapid socio-economic development.

Mr Kofi Marrah made the call at a workshop on APRM for CSOs at Kpetoe.

The workshop, organized by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), was supported by the European Union and the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

Mr Marrah said Ghana had an enviable record in APRM but needed to improve on that record through the efforts of the CSOs.

He, therefore, asked CSOs to spread their tentacles to communities and rural settings for nationwide effect.

That, Mr Marrah, said would make their work more relevant to the people and help involve the locals in governance issues.

Mr Samuel Akuamoh, Director of Programmes, NCCE, urged the citizenry to hold leaders accountable.

Mr Michael Kobla Adzaho, Agotime-Ziope District Chief Executive, said it was important for the people to show interest in governance issues and stated the readiness of the Assembly to continue to work with the chiefs and the people.
