Bawumia donates copies of Data Entry for Dummies,,,

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has donated hundreds of copies of Data Entry for Dummies to the management and staff of African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) in an effort to help improve data entry skills within the two institutions.

The donation comes just a day after both institutions admitted to posting inaccurate data on their respective websites. AfDB blamed the blunder on an “administrative error” after information on its website listed Ghana as one of several other nations facing suspension for defaulting on debts repayments. GSS on their part said “an error during the transmission of the data onto its website” was to blame for the inaccurate non-oil GDP growth figure for 2009.

In a related development, an individual who describes himself as a Data Entry expert has also offered to provide free training for the staff and management of GSS. As part of his training programme to help GSS reduce data entry errors, staff and management of the statistical service will be required to re-type unfamiliar material such as phrases like “We cooked figures to deceive public” and “Bawumia is right.”
