Ngleshie Amanfro Chief Rapes 20 -Year Old

Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Greater Accra region, Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV, known in private life as Humphery Dzartor Botchway, aka “Koforidua,” is alleged to have forcefully had sexual intercourse with a 20-year-old girl against her wish in his house, Today has learnt .

Humphery Dzator Botchway who parades himself as the Ngleshie Amanfro Mantse, according to our sources, also threatened to kill the victim if she revealed anything of the sordid experience she had with him to any third party.

But the victim who could not keep the horrifying ordeal to herself in spite of the threat, the sources said, consequently lodged a complaint at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at the Ministries Police Station in Accra for the law to take its course.

Today’s checks at DOVVSU at the Ministries’ Police Station showed that the victim in her caution statement stated that she was raped by the self-styled chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Kwashie Gborlor.

Further checks at Justab Hospital at Kasoa in the Central region by this paper, where the victim went for medical examination showed that she was pregnant.

And that pregnancy, the victim strongly insisted, was as a result of the rape she suffered in the hands of Kwashie Gborlor.

In an interview with the victim’s mother, Madam Erica Otokunor, at the Ministries Police Station, she toldToday that on Sunday, January 18th, 2015 she went to Nii Kwashie Gborlor’s residence in the company of her daughter with a problem for a solution.

She recounted that during the course of their discussion, Nii Kwashie Gborlor demanded to know who the girl was, as he found her to be beautiful and attractive.

“When he said my daughter was beautiful and that he was interested in her, my daughter told him she was too young for that but he profanely responded  “’so if I enter you won’t it go?”

The woman, who spoke amid tears, said, Kwashie Gborlor who told them not to take what he said seriously, and promised to assist the girl with a sewing machine since he was told the girl was learning a trade in sewing.

Nii Kwashie Gborlor, the victim’s mother continued, consequently took the girl’s contact number and asked her to see him on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 for the sewing machine.

Narrating the whole ordeal, the victim (name withheld) corroborated what her mother said and added that she received a call from Kwashie Gborlor the following day inviting her to his house for the sewing machine, but she declined to go since it was too late and the area was also experiencing power outage at that day.

“So I told him I will make it the following day, but he got furious and hanged up on me,” she said.

The victim continued that on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 Nii Kwashie Gborlor called her again, inviting her over but at that time she was at the market.

“I informed my mother about the chief’s invitation and my mother told me to honour it,” the raped girl stated.

Though she said she was in her menstrual period and wanted to tidy up before going to the chief’s place, her mother asked her to only change her cloths as it was getting late.

“When I got to the house, I met a gateman who asked of my mission. I told him and he offered me a seat whilst he went in to call the chief. But before the gateman could come back, I saw the chief passing through the other direction and signaled me to take the opposite direction and meet him which I did,” the girl said.

According to the victim, Nii Kwashie Gborlor ushered her into his room through to the bedroom where he asked her to enter with her sandals on.

“As we sat, he began touching me. He first held my nose and told me how pretty I was, but I ignored him and told him not to do anything with me,” she said amid sobs.

“I tried to shout but he picked a handkerchief and put it in my mouth, tore my skinny dress I was wearing under my dress and forcibly had sex with me,” she lamented.

The victim mentioned that after the incident, Nii Kwashie Gborlor knelt down and pleaded with her to keep it a secret or else, she would  die if she dared told anyone about what had happened.

“Because of his threats I was unable to tell my mother when I got home, even though she suspected something went amiss. So the following day I begun feeling feverish with pains all over my body, I then decided to report to my step father who called my mother and informed her about the incident,” she noted.

When the chief was confronted by some elders of the family on the matter, the victim indicated he admitted the offence and subsequently promised to buy a sewing machine for the victim.

Six days after the incident, according to the girl, Nii Kwashie Gborlor purchased the sewing machine for her, and further threatened to kill her if she spread the news.

Today uncovered that the  sewing machine he bought for the girl as compensation had the accused name on the invoice from Monabil Enterprise in Accra, showing  the sewing machine was purchased on 27th January, 2015 at the cost of Gh¢230.00.

A recorded telephone conversation between the victim and Kwashie Gborolor after the latter visited the hospital which Today is privy to, revealed how the accused was incensed about the pregnancy and threatened to prove that he was innocent.

Meanwhile, Today’s further investigations revealed that there  were some people trying to impress upon the victim’s mother to discontinue the case with the promise that the victim would  be taken care of by the self-styled chief of Ngleshie Amanfro.

Earlier, Today’s attempt to reach Kwashie Gborolor, Justab Hospital and the DOVVSU for their reactions failed as their telephone calls were unanswered.
