A founding member of Occupy Ghana, Lawyer Ace Ankomah, has returned the verbal salvo fired by Mr. Kofi Adams, National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress to the effect that the pressure group is a direct offshoot of the New Patriotic Party.

A decision by George Andah, who is also a member of Occupy Ghana to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the NPP, moved Mr. Adam to marry the group to the opposition party.

He even claimed flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo has always sponsored the group to promote his presidential agenda.

Mr. Adams, a Special Aide to Ex-President Rawlings, also accused the leadership of Occupy Ghana of painting a deceitful picture to the public over claims that they keep a neutral position when it comes to partisan politics.

But speaking to Peace FM, Lawyer Ace Ankomah dismissed claims that Occupy Ghana receives sponsorship from Nana Akufo Addo. The Senior Law Lecturer censured the NDC’s National Organizer for his comments and described them as completely “illogical”.

He explained that although he and Nana Akufo-Addo were all in the law field, he could boldly state that verbally interactions between them have not gone beyond three times.

“We (Occupy Ghana) are not puppets under the control of Nana Akufo Addo. If Kofi Adams' affiliation with the CJA works that way, it doesn’t apply to us," he said.

Ace Ankomah went further to explain that despite Mr. Andah’s association with Occupy Ghana, the group sees nothing wrong with his decision to contest parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the NPP.

He rhetorically quizzed Mr. Adams if he would also describe the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) as a direct offshoot of the NDC; considering the fact that the current deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Barton Oduro, is a lawyer and a member of NDC.

“Kofi Adam’s logic doesn’t add up. Would he also call the late former President Mills a hypocrite for being a member of the GBA and an NDC member?”
