GLICO Life Insurance Company (GLICO LIFE) and its Micro Insurance Manager, Ms. Cynthia Ewusi, have been conferred with an honorable award by the National Women in Finance (NWIF), an NGO dedicated to providing women with financial solutions.

In an award ceremony held at the Ghana Institute of Journalism’s Press Centre on 30th March 2015, GLICO LIFE was awarded for its innovation in micro insurance development in Ghana. In a citation that preceded the award, GLICO LIFE was recognized as pacesetters in Micro Insurance and also for its dedication to offering the informal sector financial solutions.

As a respected insurance institution, GLICO LIFE’s corporate contribution in the area of micro insurance includes having successfully pioneered and established thriving and growing micro Insurance products known popularly on the market as “Anidaso” and “Edwa Nkosuo” for the informal sector. Ms. Cynthia Ewusi, the Manager at the helm of affairs of GLICO LIFE’s micro insurance, was also awarded for creating massive awareness and promoting insurance among the informal sector, urging all to plan for future security should the uncertain happen.

On receiving the award, Ms. Ewusi indicated among other things that “She believes women can reach greater heights with the determination to succeed”. She added that women have huge responsibilities as managers of families and that it behooves all women to have a ‘cushion’ to fall on should the unexpected happen.” She thanked the organizers for recognizing her efforts and that of GLICO LIFE indicating that, “this will spur us on to do more for the informal sector and women specifically.” Notably, this prominent annual award is given by NWIF to inspire and motivate individual and organisations who are contributing to the development of providing financial solutions to women. It is also in recognition of the extremely valuable contribution that individuals are making to inspire leadership qualities as well as motivate other women to be high achievers in any endeavour they find themselves. It is interesting to note that this award ceremony is the second to be organized in 2015 by NWIF.

The first award ceremony organized in February 2015 awarded seventeen women for their outstanding contributions in the financial sector. Ms. Ewusi was honored alongside reputable women such as Honorable Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency, and Mrs. Felicia Acquah, former Managing Director of Exim Guaranty Bank and now Director at Bay Port Financial Services. Proudly, GLICO LIFE is the leading indigenous life insurance company in Ghana providing innovative and quality life insurance products and services to add value to the lives of the insurable Ghanaian public.
