2 Referees Suspended

The GFA Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of the Match Review panel’s report to suspend Referee Solomon Mordey for six (6) matches.

Referee Mordey’s suspension is in respect of the 1st Capital Plus Premier League Week 10 match between Hasaacas vs Hearts of Oak where he did not show technical competence in handling the above mentioned match.

A GFA report signed by Acting General Secretary Emmanuel Gyimah stated that:

“i) Referee Solomon Mordey is hereby suspended for six(6) matches with effect from match day 11 of the 1st Capital Plus Premier League for not showing technical competence in handling the match under review . Referee Solomon Mordey failed to show a player of Hearts of Oak SC a red card after handling a goal bound ball on the goal line of the penalty box even though a penalty was awarded against Hearts of Oak SC.”

The reported further stated that:

” ii) Referee Solomon Mordey failed to award a penalty to Hasaacas SC during the second half of the game when an attacker of Hasaacas SC was fouled by a Hearts of Oak defender in the penalty box.”

In another debelopment, the GFA Ex-co also approved the Match Review Panel’s recommendation to suspend Assistant Referee Alex Anning for four (4) matches.

The suspension is in respect of the 1st Capital Plus Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium where the the assistant referee denied the away team a goal in the 21st minute of the first half.

The GFA report signed by Acting General Secretary Mr. Emmanuel Gyimah stated that:

“Assistant Referee Alex Anning is hereby suspended for four (4) matches with effect from match day 11 of the 1st Capital Plus Premier League for denying Medeama SC a perfect goal in the 21st minute of the 1st half of the game when he ruled the attacker who scored the goal offside.”
