I Agree With Kufour; "It's A Shame Ghana Is In This State Seeking IMF Bailout" - Kabila

James Kwabena Bomfeh of the Conventions People's Party (CPP) says the Mahama administration has disgraced Ghanaians by seeking a bailout from the International Monetary Facility (IMF).

According to James Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila, he agrees with Ex-President Kufour that it's a "shame" for the current administration to return to the IMF for a bailout after his (Kufour) government re-vitalized the economy.

Ex-President Kufour, addressing a gathering at an international conference in London on Wednesday, registered his displeasure with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

He told the attendees that the NDC administration has failed to properly manage the economy, hence resulting in the government's rush to the IMF.

"I think it is unfortunate that we have had to go back to the IMF because of the IMF tutelage to give dignity to the country and that's what is meant by self-government.

"It's a bit demeaning but it's a phase and we must enlighten our people to understand that next time when they come across people who can manage the economy, they should pay healthy regards to them," Friday's edition of the Chronicle quoted him to have said.

Kabila also wondered why despite all the danger signs that hung on the IMF deal, the government would still enter into such a deal with the international body.

The truth about animals is that animals like dogs that we train, if you strike it once, for the second time; the third time that it meets you, it will either bark at you or run from you. I mean creatures of lesser intelligence without conscience even learn a lesson from experiences, how much more we, human beings who claim to be created in the image of God? We disgrace ourselves and disgrace God in the process…

"Do our Ministers, leaders of our nation; do they do this critical analysis on behalf of the State as they would have done if they were doing in their private capacities?...I agree entirely with the position of former President Kufour that it’s a shame that Ghana in this state is going back to IMF,” he said.
