MPs Laud Obama�s Visit To Ghana

Members of Parliament have lauded the visit of President Barack Obama to Ghana on Friday, 10th to Saturday 11th July, saying it will help strengthen the relationship between Ghana and the USA. Apart from serving as a demonstration of American�s recognition of Ghana�s democratic credentials, the MPs noted that President Obama�s visit underlines the need for Ghana not to relax in its forward movement towards democracy. The MPs made these statements in their comments on a statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni on President Barack Obama�s visit. The former Ashanti regional minister and MP for Kwabre East, Hon. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah appealed to the USA to assist Ghana to introduce electronic voting system in future elections in the country. After briefing the House on the itinerary of President Obama� visit, the foreign affairs Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni said Ghana has made tremendous gain in the areas of trade and investment, Aid as well as training and supply of equipment to Ghana�s military as a result of the visits of President Obama�s immediate two predecessors � George Bush and Bill Clinton.
