Ghana League PoorSays Arhinful

Former Ghana striker Augustine Arhinful says he is not enthused about the standard of Ghana premier league.

After monitoring the league closely, he said, he had observed that the level of play was not impressive.

The ex-striker suspected that the undue delay in the start of the league might be the cause of the low standard so far.

Arhinful said he would not agree with those calling for local players to have a quota in the Black Stars, currently.

“I advocated for local players to have a quota in the Black Stars in the past, but I have changed my mind now.”

He said reserving a quota for local players in the Black Stars might force the coach to select inferior players for the senior national team.

The ex-Ashantigold player said he had watched Hearts of Oak in the league and he didn’t think the Hearts players were ready for the Black Stars now.

“Things can change in the future and the Hearts players could merit national call, but for now I don’t think they are ready for the Black Stars,” he said.
