Its Politics Time Now Acting Can Wait

Actress, Ebi Bright, has made her move. She is stepping into national politics as a parliamentary candidate of the Conventions Peoples Party (CPP) for Tema Central.

“My acting career can wait. Helping to solve the problems of my people at Tema Central is now my first priority.

“It is sad that I have to turn down some movie producers who have been knocking on my door with scripts.

“It is a different time for me because I have started work with my able team of CPP members”,  Ebi told Showbiz last week.

Known for movies such as The Game, Reason To Kill, Pool Party, Somewhere In Africa, Single Six, Hotel Baylon, Love and Facebook, Family Album  and Sex Online, Ebi said she is capable of combining politics and  acting but when it comes to choosing one, she will always go for  politics.

Asked whether she was prepared for the heat as a politician, Ebi Bright  said she had always been prepared.

“There have been a lot of negative stories about me as an actress but I did not really care because it comes with the job.

“I know many are going to raise questions that I am young and single but I am more than prepared for the battle as a politician,” she said.

Ebi said she had to explain to one of the executives that being single will rather make her focus on her political career than if she were married.

According to her, there will be no distraction from her man and kids as she is single and ready to solve the problems of her constituency.

Contrary to the perception that she is half Nigerian half Ghanaian, Ebi Bright made it clear that she is a full blooded Ghanaian and not a Nigerian.

“My biological parents are Ghanaians and I want everyone to know  that Ghana is my home,” she said.

Ebi studied Management at the University of Leicester, UK, and holds a degree in Development Communication from the African University College of Communications in Accra.

She hosted TV3’s  Late Night Show for four seasons.
