Adama Latse II Destooled?

Information available to Today from the corridors of the four royal ruling houses of the Ga State indicates that the Chief Priests (Wulomoi) believed to be Wulomoi of Ga Paramount Royal Stool, have asked the  kingmakers of the Ga State to nominate a candidate from the Akropong Division-Accra to be enstooled  as Ga Mantse.

The yet-to-be enstooled chief, sources told Today, was to succeed Boni Nii Amugi Soosi II, whose demise occurred on December 10, 2004.

And per the customs and traditions of the Ga State this paper learnt that they give only the Ga Akwaashontse and Wulomoi (Chief Priests) the legitimate right to make an official request to the kingmakers of the Ga State headed by the substantive Dzaasetse, Nii Tetteh Kwei, to select, nominate, confine and outdoor a candidate to be installed as the proper Ga Mantse of the King Tackie Tawiah royal lineage.

The highly-placed sources close to the Chief Priests of the Ga Paramount Royal Stool revealed to  this reporter  that the request for the nomination of a new candidate to be enstooled as Ga Mantse was made on Monday, April13, 2015 after extensive consultations.

The sources noted that the lineage of the Ga Mantse, Nii Adama Latse II, known in private life as Mr. George Tackie was questionable and for that matter not fit for the position.

And  a further  search request by the only surviving Kingmaker, Nii Agyemang Kese II on August  21, 2014 at the Registrar of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs at Dodowa, the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase Tunma We of Abola-Accra, Today uncovered,  confirmed that the present Ga Matnse chieftaincy was questionable.

That, the sources told Today, was also reaffirmed by a report of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

Consequently, the paper gathered that the request by the Wulomoi to the kingmakers to select and nominate a legitimate candidate for a new Ga Mantse would settle nearly two decades of litigation that has left Accra without a substantive Ga chief.

Ga State has been without a substantive chief since the death of Ga Mantse Nii Amugi ten years ago, Today has learnt.

According to the sources, the Ga Mantse throne became vacant following the death of the disputed claimant, King Tackie Tawiah III, known in private life as Dr. Joe Blankson, in London last year.

The sources recalled that on May 5, 2014, the Ga Traditional Council uncustomary and unconstitutionally endorsed Mr. George Tackie, as Ga Mantse whose legitimacy was heavily disputed until the recent judgment from the Judicial Committee of the Ga Regional House of Chiefs, Dodowa in Accra, declared that  “there is no Ga Mantse as at now.”

“For the information of all and sundry and all the characters claiming to be kingmakers we wish to state that they have no capacity within the Ga Paramount Stool Dzaase, Tunma We, Abola-Accra and in the Ga State, and  as such they are all declared imposters,” the sources said.

“The Ga Traditional Council is throwing dust into the eyes of the Ga Paramount Stool Dzaase, Tunma We of Abola-Accra, Ga Mei and the general public with its uncustomary acts since the demise and subsequent burial of the late Ga Mantse, Boni Nii Amugi Soosi II in December 2004, and January 2007 respectively,” the sources observed.
