D-G Of GES Orders St. John's To Re-Register 3 "Bushy Hair" Students For Exams

Following the capricious exercise of power displayed by two tutors of Mile 7-based St. John's Grammar School in Accra to cruelly deny three final year female students from writing one of their final examination papers in the ongoing West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE), the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Jacob Kor has stepped in.

During Peace FM Midday News Bulletin on Monday, three disgruntled final year female students of St. Johns Grammar School reported that the invigilator, Mr. Gyedu and one Mr. Ofori in the presence of the Assistant Headmistress denied them access to write one of their Elective Subject, CRS for the only reason that they had bushy hair.

On the same platform, the deputy minister of Education in charge of Pre-tertiary, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh gave the assurance that he will follow the matter to its logical conclusion.

Information available to Peacefmonline.com indicates that the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Jacob Kor has visited St. Johns Grammar School and upon what he gathered, has ordered the school’s authorities to ensure the three final year female students who suffered injustice at the hands of their tutors be made to write the rest of their exams.

Mr. Kor again ordered the school to totally foot the bills comprising tuition and registration fees of the three affected final year students for the next November/December private examinaton, especially, re-writing their elective Christian Religious Studies (CRS) subject.

The Director-General of the GES further assured that investigations will continue to find an appropriate punishment for those involved in the incident if they are found culpable.
