Gwira Chiefs On Allegation Of 'Galamsey' Operators

Chiefs of Gwira Traditional Area in the Western Region have denied reports that they collect money from illegal miners (Galamsey operators) before engaging in mining.

President of Gwira Traditional Area Awulae Angamatu-Agyan ll told sit-in host of ‘Kokrokoo’ Nana Yaw Kesse, Tuesday, that those allegations are just to discredit the chiefs of Gwira.

“It is not true that we collect money from these people (Galamsey operators)…their operations are even affecting our environment and our water bodies so how can we collect money from them?” he wondered.

He has therefore dared anyone who insists on those allegations to produce evidence to that effect.
