A Case Of Party Before Nation

I have being thinking about recent events in the country; this article is the results of the unfolding events in the country.

Will you appoint a security adviser who has no security background? Our president recently appointed Alhaji Baba Kamara national security adviser, yet the man has no security background. Must he become because he is NDC? He holds Certificate in Administration Management (1986), Certificate in Senior Management and Development (1987) Certificate in Good Corporate Governance (2005) and Executive Masters Degree in Governance and Leadership (2001) all of from the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA). He also holds Certificate in International Relations from the University of East Angelia, Norwich, England in 2003.

I am yet to find a man who will entrust anything to somebody who has even been accused of alleged stealing, yet again our president chose to put the security of the nation in the hands of a man who has being named as the brain behind a serious corruption scandal. Baba Kamara and the Mabey and Johnson 75,000 pound bribery scandal still under CHRAJ investigations is my reference.

Additionally, who will ask a man who has mismanaged funds to come and help in managing bigger funds? What informed the call of Mr. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah to the presidency after incompetently supervising a ministry which has come to be infamously known as the ministry of Black stars? Even though the Dzamefe committee’s report is yet to be made public transferring him to the presidency is a clear indication of putting party before the nation. Yes, he was the campaign manager for the President’s 2012 bid.

I’m yet to find a man who is in dire financial circumstance but refuses to go after his debtors. Believe it or not most of the challenges we are facing with the “DumSor” is financial. Messrs. Wayome and Agambire, several individuals and companies owe Ghana but their political leaning has made it difficult for Ghana to recover them. This is a clear case of party before nation.

I don’t say this for the benefit of any party, there have been instances where people have been made to resign and yet their jobs waited for them. Do you remember Doctor Richard Anane? How can somebody attending an HIV summit go and have unprotected sex and bring the nation a baby Asἐm sἐbἐ. I don’t know the qualities and the special powers he had at the time that made him the most suitable person for the minister of roads.

Election years have been found to be the years in which state funds are most misapplied. No wonder anytime there is a political transition the incoming party blames the departing for leaving them with nothing. 2016 is fast approaching and all Think Tanks and financial experts in and outside Ghana are warning government of its excessive borrowings, but so far as it will bring funds for party activities everyone can burn; Party before Nation here.

We are all worried about the state of our electricity but must the cost of restoring it be far higher than home grown measure. All the agreements by government with foreign firms stink with corruption. While VRA can be funded to produce 1 kilowatt power for between 9-13 cents, some of the plant we are leasing will be providing a kilowatt power for 17 cents. Is this not an avenue to fund party at the expense of nation? Hello whiles I was crying about the deal and similar stinking ones Karpower, the company contracted to bring us emergency power barges claims they are not emergency power producers.

Despite the assurance by our ever promising president that by April the barges will be in to relieve us of “Dum Sor” our hopes has been dashed. If I was the president I will apologise to my masters (Ghanaians) and sack the fake party advisors. But NO, election is about numbers and government does not want to lose any thump; Party before nation.

Osagyefo barge can produce 126 megawatt power yet it has been left to deteriorate because it has no “chop chop” on it.

I cannot let this issue go by me, what is wrong with government agencies and highest rent. The suspended CHRAJ boss aside blowing GHC 182,000 on renovating her official residence she spent a colossal $180,000 on rent. National Petroleum Authority (NPA) was paying a rent of $ 63,000 a month. When the minister of Energy and Petroleum then, set up a 5-member committee to investigate the rent negotiation, the chief of staff, Mr. Prosper Bani gave a counter directive for the dissolution of the committee and asked the NPA not to renew the rent when it ended. Just like that, nobody was touched. After all isn’t it the money for people who have short memory who will soon not remember anything.

The current one is the sale of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) head office for $10 million to rent a place that cost GHC1 million a month. In 38 months the entire cost of the 2 storey building would be spent. Did the MD Stephen Kpordzih say is a strategic move. If it was his private business would this be a smart move. Or this is to make a case to be able to sell ADB just like Merchant Bank was sold to party faithful. Meanwhile ADB has GHC 600 million of unrecovered debt on its books. Ghana has being sacrificed for party. Once is in the interest of party in power we can all go to hell. Did I read government owes GHC 800million in workers SSNIT contributions?

It is time we left the interest of individuals and party to concentrate on that of the nation. It is a pride to live in a developed nation. And like I always say, Ghana is not poor only greedy and bad leadership have made it so.

Electorates let’s show we know our true power. Thump out every party that fails our expectations.
