Mercy Asiedu On Dumsor

Top local actress Mercy Asiedu has revealed that the local movie industry has started sinking as a result of the persistent power fluctuations.

The President of the Actresses Association of Ghana (ACTOGH) told Adom FM that movie producers have stopped producing new movies because prospective buyers do not patronise the movies all due to the erratic power situations.

According to her, the power crisis is creating problems as well as killing the movie industry in the country.

She stressed that a number of showbiz personalities have in recent times complained of the effects of the power crisis, adding that something must be done immediately to save the situation.

Before she joined the movie industry, Mercy Asiedu was part of ‘Concert Party. She had always wanted to become a musician but instead ended up acting within Kristo Asafo Drama Group alongside Nkomode, Bishop Bob Okala and Akrobotu.

She was in 2001 adjudged the Best Actress for her roles in ‘Concert Party’ plays.
