On 28th, May, 2015, the Film Producers Association of Ghana would embark on a massive demonstration in the Ashanti Region to also register their displeasure at government for not finding immediate solutions to the power crisis.
Spokesperson for the group, Mr. Kweku Ola in an interview on Peace FM’s mid news on Monday 18th May, 2015, revealed that they have be given the go ahead by the police to organize the demonstration.
According to Mr. Kweku Ola, the unstable supply of power was killing the film industry and making life unbearable for them. Participants are to meet at the Kumasi Cultural Centre and they would walk from the Bantama High Street and end at the Barclays Bank roundabout where they would hold a vigil there and pray to God to remove the darkness hovering around the film industrial.
“The film industry depends solely on power for production. The person who writes a script needs power to do that before submitting his or final draft. When we get on set, we depend on power before we can use our equipment”.
“Even under the blazing sun, we still depend on power to on our light to enhance our picture quality. After this, the editor of the movie needs power to edit the material given. Both soundman and advertisers also need power to work on the material”.
“The company to do the distribution need power and when the final material gets to the consumer, he or she would need power to watch the movie”, he said.
