Otumfuor Charges Minister To Complete Maternity Ward

The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, has urged the new Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah, to ensure the completion of the over three-decade maternity ward at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Its completion, according to the king, would help ease the pressure on the facility, and further urged the Minister to show leadership in tackling development at all fronts, with emphasis on education and health.

The overlord of the Asante Kingdom said these when the new Regional Minister called on him at the Manhyia Palace to officially introduce himself.

He also asked him to be development-oriented and lobby for more projects to open up the region for businesses.

The new Minister was accompanied by the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu, the regional police commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, and other security chiefs in the region.

The King said truth and discipline should be the bedrock of his administration, and added that he must be able to work with all kinds of people irrespective of their political and ethnic affiliations.

Otumfuo added that it was better to be criticised for standing for the truth than to be applauded for championing evil.

He told the Minister to be aware that not everybody will love him, and admonished him to be firm once he knows what he is doing is right, adding he should be prepared to crack the whip when necessary.

The Asantehene pledged his unflinching support to help the new Minister succeed.
