The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) wishes to express the Institute’s profound grief over the recent disasters that have befallen our dear nation Ghana as a result of the twin incidences of flooding and fire that resulted in the death of scores of our citizens.

As the nation, and particularly the families of the deceased, mourn these irreparable loss that could have been avoided, we wish to express our condolences and wish the bereaved families and loved ones God’s infinite grace and comfort to be able to recover from the effects of these unfortunate episodes.

As a nation, we need to ponder over these unwarranted happenings and take practical action in order that we can overcome this and other self-inflicted injuries that not only cost so much money but always lead to the loss of innocent lives.

We, therefore, call on our citizens to refrain from negative practices like indiscriminate disposal of refuse into the gutters and littering our environment; and also for the officialdom to crack the whip on those who indulge in these actions as well as erecting structures on water ways.

As a result of the fire and other related incidences within these few days, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana, as part of our advocacy programme will be engaging the Chief Fire Officer, Dr. Albert Gaisie to resource an evening talk (lecture) programme on Occupational Health & Safety in fire protection management on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 5:30 pm, dubbed “A stitch in time saves nine” or to be blunt “Penny wise, Pound foolish”

We shall be inviting various interest groups to attend in order to learn from the experts on how we can protect ourselves and valuable personal and national assets from wanton destruction.

The CIMG wishes all Ghanaians and the bereaved families’ divine consolation to overcome.
