Three people are said to have died from flooding after torrential rains last night in the Bunprugu district of the Northern Region.
The downpour also resulted in the destruction of houses and left many residents homeless.
MP for the area, Solomon Namliit Boar told Joy News help is needed urgently to alleviate the plight of the victims.
He said those who lost their lives in the flood are two ladies and child.
“A lot of houses have been ripped off…and we hope that so many can come in and help us with this drive [to support displaced persons]”, Mr Namliit said.
The Bunprugu floods and death come eight days after scores died in floods that hit parts of the Accra.
Meanwhile the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has intensified a campaign to avert a full blown outbreak of cholera.
It follows the confirmation of one case with many more showing symptoms due to the insanitary conditions caused by the floods.
As many as six people were admitted at the Adabraka Polyclinic Thursday one of which proved positive for cholera.
Clean drinking water to areas hit by last week’s floods in the capital city has been scarce or non-existent.
The Adabraka area and the immediate community near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle where the Goil filling station exploded and killed about a hundred and fifty people have not had water since Wednesday’s disaster.
The Ghana Water Company says its ability to provide water to the affected communities has been hampered by lack of power.
The Greater Accra Director of Health Services, Dr. Linda Van Otoo, has however advised residents in Accra where the floods hit hardest to rush to the hospital at the first sign of diarrhea symptoms.
