Ablakwa: We Are Not Magicians

The Deputy Minister of Information, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says the NDC administration is not a magician to be able to fulfill its promises or provide the needs of all Ghanaians within these few months it has been in office as demanded by the Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG). The Minister was speaking on Peace FMs Kokrokoo morning show about AFAGs demonstration yesterday for what they claim as President Mills failure to solve the economic crisis in the country - high school fees, unemployment and high utility bills. According to Hon. Ablakwa, the Mills administration is doing its best in the face of the terrible mess the previous NPP government left the economy. He said the NPP mismanaged the countrys fiscal and left a huge debt. We came to meet the worse deficit this country has ever seen, he declared. He claimed that teachers and railway workers were not paid for about two years. He gave credit to the NDC for the success of the AFAG demonstration saying the administration is really working towards proper democracy because none of the demonstrators was harassed or molested, as it happened in the NPP era. On the same programme, Mr. Kwaku Baako and Ms. Ursula Owusu debunked the deputy ministers assertion and said the demonstrators comported themselves in the course of exercising their constitutional rights to ensure peace during the demonstration.
