I Have Not Resigned Sylvester Mensah

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah has debunked claims that he has resigned from his position.

This follows a letter he sent to staff of the NHIA titled “SYLVESTER MENSAH RESIGNS FROM NHIA”.

An excerpt of the letter says: “I am exceedingly grateful to all management and staff for the co-operation, contribution and commitment to our objectives. I am even more grateful for the opportunity to exercise leadership in the NHIA over the past years.

This mail to you signifies a new phase in the life of the scheme, indeed, a change in leadership and a renewed motivation and commitment to steer the scheme with high velocity. I will have fond memories of our collective passion to succeed, the occasional harsh decisions in our collective interests, the affections and comradeship we have shared, the principled loyalty and esprit de corps inherent in our working relations, as I leave office in the next few days”.

Speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ Wednesday, Sylvester Mensah told Kwami Sefa Kayi that he had not resigned but “I have been relieved of my post”

According to him, “I should have left last year because my term ended last year. My appointment letter put me in a five-year contract…I have been relieved of my post…I am happy in my capacity of a Ghanaian having served my country. I served for six years and I am exceedingly grateful and thankful.”

The former NHIA boss could not however speak to whether or not he was being given a new position by the president.
