Mahama, Otumfuo To Commission Recreational Park In Kumasi

President John Dramani Mahama and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will jointly commission a recreational facility in Kumasi on Friday.

The commissioning forms part of the President’s itinerary in the region where he is expected to inspect some major infrastructural projects.

The recreational facility known as "The Rattray Park, Kumasi City” forms part of efforts to green Kumasi and restore it to its past glory as the Garden City of West Africa.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has successfully undertaken the regeneration and redevelopment of a public park located opposite the Golden Tulip Kumasi City at Ridge into a recreational facility.

The objective is to give the citizens of Kumasi and beyond a one-stop recreation facility and also promote a healthy lifestyle.

It has an acoustic dancing fountain, the first of its kind in Ghana.

The 42,000 square-meter recreational facility can boast of a six square-meter multimedia controlled fountain, children’s playground, a golf cart, wi-fi internet connectivity, an open robust gym and a cafeteria among others.

As a result of the commissioning the Raintree Street (road in front of Golden Tulip Hotel) will be closed to traffic at 10:00 am on Friday.
