Mass Resignations Hit NDC

The in-fighting among some executive members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Madina constituency in the Greater Accra Region has reached its crescendo following mass resignations by some branch executives.

Latest to join the train is the branch chairman of the Oyarifa Presby JHS A, William Ofori Nsiah and the Youth Organizer of the Oyarifa Presby Primary A, Joshua Ashifi Gogo over what they described as illegal removal of their names from the branch list and subsequently preventing them from voting in the last constituency election.

Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE over the issue, Mr. Nsiah said after serving the party both in cash and kind from 2008 up to December 16, 2014, the constituency executives conspicuously removed his name and all the names of the Oyarifa branch executives and presented a different list which prevented them from voting to elect both constituency and regional executives for the party.

Mr. Nisah said the deletion of their names compelled them to take the matter to court where an injunction was placed on the constituency election.

“The party in the constituency is not worth dying for, because after buying a vehicle and chairs for the party, I was denied my voting rights,” he said.

In separate resignation letters dated December 16 and 18, 2014 respectively and addressed to the Madina constituency chairman of the NDC, Baba Ibrahim Mohammed, Mr. Nsiah and Mr. Gogo indicated their love and support for the party, but that they could not continue to serve as leaders in the constituency.

Mr. Nsiah stated that having acknowledged receipt of the letter, the constituency failed to find out from them “the reasons leading to our resignation, not to talk of calling us to settle the matter.”

In a letter of acknowledgment and acceptance from the constituency chairman to the two former executives, he appreciated their efforts, commitments and selfless dedication to duty rendered to the party over the years and thanked them for their support.

He stated that “in the event that the two decide to come back as members of the party, we advise you to write officially back to the party with copies to the ward coordinator as well and that, the party is ever ready to welcome you back.”
