The last successful coup d'état in Ghana, which overthrew the democratically elected government of Dr Hilla Limann, took place on December 31, 1981 under the leadership of Flt Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings – but that is likely to happen again according to a prophet.

The head Pastor of the Hezekiah Apostolic Prayer Ministry, Prophet Kwabena Owusu Adjei, has insisted that Ghanaians must vote against President John Dramni Mahama’s government in 2016 to avert a possible coup d’état.

He noted that – “The prophecy of coup d’état came to me some weeks ago and I am alerting all should that happens. There will be a coup d’état if President Mahama win the 2016 election”.

What can be done to debar the putsch? - Prophet Kwabena Owusu Adjei explained that the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] is the only option to avert the awaiting coup.

“It was revealed to me that the NPP will have to win next year’s election. As to whether Nana Addo will be the president was not revealed to me,” he said. 

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Mo tie" the acclaimed man of God opined that – “Other smaller parties must join forces with the NPP to clinch power from the NDC. NPP’s Danquah-Dusia-Dombo ideology and Nkrumah’s CPP is the best for Ghana”

Prophet Kwabena Owusu Adjei however stated that the ruling NDC has failed Ghanaians with its corrupt appointees - “Someone like Allotey Jacobs [Central Regional Chairman of the NDC] is a ‘stomach politician”.
