Ghana Loses GIAMA Awards Bid

For the fourth year running, Ghana has missed out as organisers of the 2015 Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA).

This year’s awards ceremony will come off in Houston, Texas on October 17, 2015.

The maiden edition in 2012 commenced with Jim Iyke as the host, followed by Nollywood’s highly sought-after actor Ramsey Nouah in 2013, after which comic genius Julius Agwu took over in 2014.

GIAMA announced over the weekend that comedian AY Makun is the host for the fourth edition of the event, with Ghana missing out on that spot for the fourth year running.

AY Makun is described as an award-winning comedian and also the host of one of Nigeria’s most popular comedy shows, AY Live. The show draws thousands of crowds every year and is widely regarded as the best comedy show in Nigeria.

The fourth annual GIAMA is set to captivate a lively audience on October 17, 2015 in Houston, Texas.

Organisers are reportedly poised to bring audience the most anticipated event of the year in the United States, featuring some exclusive performances by the industry’s highly-acclaimed entertainers and comedians.
