I Know My Tenure Has Come To An End But I Have Not Been Asked To Hand Over As DCE

The continued stay in office of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Shama District Assembly, Mr. Enoch Kojo Appiah, has raised concern among a section of the staff, despite the expiry of his tenure.

The DCE came into office on July 11, 2011, and has spent exactly four years in office.

Per the Local Government Act, a DCE shall stay in office for a period of four years, unless otherwise re-nominated by the President.

Information available to the Western File indicates that on Monday, at management meeting of the Shama Assembly, the DCE reportedly told those present that he was aware his tenure of office had come to an end.

However, since he had received no letter from the Local Government Ministry, he would continue to serve as such.

For now, take allowances and perform functions in the name of the assembly, though his tenure of office has come to an end.

The Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo, has also come out to admit that the tenure of office of the DCE had come to an end.

He said, he as a Minister, had not received any directive from the Local Government Minister to let the DCE handover.

As a result, the DCE would continue to serve until a letter from The Ministry directs him otherwise.
