The Osu Traditional Council, has affirmed that Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI is the legitimate Paramount Chief of Osu and President of the Council. �The two ruling Royal Houses (Owuo and Dowuona We), and we the kingmakers (Dzaase) came together to install Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona as Osu Mantse.� A statement titled: �Osu Chieftaincy Affairs � Setting the Record Straight,� was endorsed by the 19-member Council and read by Naa Teinor Osa Ayilor I, Dzaasenye at a news conference at the Palace on Tuesday. The Council said Nii Kinka Dowuona was installed Osu Mantse and President of the Osu Traditional Council in May 2007 by the accredited kingmakers of the Osu Stool. He was taken through all the traditional processes namely the installation, induction and finally the swearing of oath of allegiance to the people of Osu in 2010. The statement backed by extract from the National House of Chiefs confirming the position of the Osu Mantse said Nii Kinka Dowuona also went through the statutory process and his name registered in the National Register of Chiefs. �He is currently a member of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and represents the Greater Accra Region at the National House of Chiefs,� it said. The Council said all legal issues raised against the legitimacy of Nii Kinka Dowuona at the Supreme Court, High Court, Appeal Court by one Nii Nortey Owuo III has been dismissed, thrown out and quashed. �As far as we know there is only one Paramount Chief in Osu in the name of Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI,� the statement said. Copies of a recent ruling on June 25, in favour of Nii Kinka Dowuona in which Nii Nortey Owuo had filed at the Appeal Court against the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Dodoo Nsaki, the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and Nii Kinka Dowuona was made available to the media. The Council used the occasion to appeal to the Regional Security Council and other security agencies to arrest anybody or group of people who have the intent of disrupting this year�s Homowo festival. �Do not hesitate to contact or liaise with the Osu Traditional Council and the Paramount Chief to ensure a peaceful Homowo,� the Council said.
