Security Tight At Presidents Church

The interior ministry assured of tighter security at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church where President Mahama and his family as well the Chief Justice worship.

The move follows the arrest in the church of a 36-year-old man, Charles Antwi, who was in possession of a gun two weeks ago.

He has since been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

It was unclear whether President Mahama will be in church yesterday but Interior Minister, Mark Woyongo, said nothing was being left to chance to ensure the president’s protection.

“It is a lesson not only for the church but wherever the president goes from now onwards we would ensure that security is tightened and the life of the president is not endangered.

“Nobody is going to leave anything to chance. Security in the church and wherever the president goes will be tightened,” Woyongo stressed.

Meanwhile human rights lawyer, Francis Sosu, is in court seeking to overturn the 10- year jail term handed Charles Antwi.

He says there is the need for a psychiatric evaluation of his client.
