Waging War Against Child Labour; Victims Rescued

The future definitions of nations in terms of leadership and prosperity are based on the development of children who are highly esteemed as the future leaders of the country.

However, the future of most children looks gloomy in most emerging economies and that of Ghana is not different.

Most children between the age of 4 and 18 are working as cow boys, house helps, sex objects and are also engaged in fishing and farming. These gross social vices are real challenges to our developmental goals as a nation.

It is in this light that The C.E. O. Of The Truth Productions / The Truth Humanity Foundation, Christopher Tulasi, is at the fore to unveil and to sensitize society about the ills that are embedded in our system.

Kwasi, a ten-year-old boy who has been rented out by his father to several masters to work on different fields for money, has finally been rescued.

Kwasi was rented out to head cattle for three years upon agreement that after the three years, one cow will be given to him. But his master has a habitual attitude of sacking his slaves before their time in order to deny them their due rewards. Kwasi was not different, and after serving his master for two years and four months, he was sacked for no tangible reason. As a result, he did not get the cow or any reward.

Kwasi’s father again rented him out to a fisherman for another three years at a fee of 700 Ghana cedis and collected part payment of 400 Ghana cedis.

After the documentary on Kwasi’s plight was shown on Utv, Tv Africa and on YouTube, the department Anti Human Trafficking Unit of the Ghana Police service headed by Chief Superintendent Patience Quaye came in, in collaboration leading to the rescue of Kwasi.

Kwasi’s father, who has 9 children with 6 different women, rented three of his children to work in hard labour fields, and was living with his new wife at Peki in the volta Region is now on the run and cannot be contacted again.

Kwasi has now been rescued and he is in a reputable boarding educational institution.

There are many other children that are still laboring in the same or worse conditions as Kwesi used to.
Where are the child’s rights activists, the Human right lawyers, the chiefs and opinion leaders? Where are the preachers of the word of God?

Let us all come together and rescue these children.
Doing it for these little ones, we are doing it for our creator.
