NDC Is A Failure Yells Lower Manya Krobo Chairman

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman for Lower Manya Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr. David Walter Hormenu has vented his anger on the Regional and National executives of the party in handling the impasse between the Kwahu South District Chief Executive (DCE), Joseph Omari Sasu and constituency executives of the area.

According to the Lower Manya Krobo chairman, the disturbances and misunderstanding in the Kwahu South District is a manifestation of failure on the part of the party top notch and lack of managerial ability to resolve simple issues.

The chairman, who was a onetime Presiding Member (PM) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality made the remark in a telephone interview with the paper, when he was called to respond to the total withdrawal of service by all 32 constituency chairmen in the region.

The constituency chairmen of the party on Saturday, at a press conference held at Mpraeso, the capital of the Kwahu South District, announced the total withdrawal of their service to the party and closure of party offices across the region.

The move, according to a press statement read by Atiwa West Constituency chairman, Johnson Amo, was in solidarity with the five Mpraeso constituency executives of the party who have been arrested, following a row with the Kwahu South DCE.

An Mpreaso Circuit court on Friday, August 7, 2015, remanded the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party chairman for Mpreaso and four others into Police custody.

Mohamadu Salifu, Constituency chairman, Smart Somuah Nkansah, Constituency Organizer, Sulemana Nuhu, David Effah Osei Bonsu and Kwame Awuah were all charged with conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, assault on public officer, stealing and causing unlawful harm by the Court, presided over by Marian Saleh Sinare.

The five, who have since been transferred to the Nkawkaw Police, would re-appear before the court on August 14, this year. This follows an attack launched on the DCE on Friday by the constituency executives who allegedly stole items worth GHc2, 500 belonging to the DCE in the process.

The items missing include one wrist watch valued at Ghc600, one Samsung galaxy mobile phone valued at GHc1,200 and a cash amount of GHc700 was believed to be stolen by the executives in the process of the confrontation.

Mr. Amo indicated that, they can no longer tolerate the indifference of the Regional and National executives towards the rumpus in the constituency.

“We the constituency Chairmen and all Executives of the National Democratic Congress in the Eastern region have resolved that all party offices in the various constituencies in the region should be closed with immediate effect,” he stressed.

The spokesperson for the constituency chairmen called on the party executives to ensure that the Mpraeso constituency chairman, Mohammed Salifu and four other executive members who are in police custody are released immediately.

The Executives also accused the Eastern regional minister, Antwi Bosiako Sekyere of conniving with Hon. Omari in the arrest of the five executives. To this, the Lower Manya Krobo chairman who was not at the press conference but indicated that he was in support of the action taken by his colleagues said, the problems at the Mpraeso constituency was a fundamental failure on the part of the party.

He hinted that, the inability of the party top notch to resolve the problem at Mpreaso constituency is a total worry to not only party members in the area but all sympathizers of the party since the problem at Mpraeso is one of many facing the party in the region.
