Doctors Fume Over NPP Manipulation Claims

Deputy General Secretary of Ghana Medical Association (GMA) Justice Yankson has denied the allegation that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is behind their current strike.

According to him, the NPP do not determine the directions and the ultimate destiny of doctors in the country.

He said doctors are not people who can be manipulated by any political party in the country, thereby rubbishing that claim.

The GMA which declared a nationwide strike on Thursday July 30 following the failure of government to provide them with their conditions of service have now intensified their action by withdrawing their services on emergency cases.

They have also threatened to embark on a mass resignation if the government does not adhere to their demands.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday Dr. Yankson stated that those alleging that the GMA is doing the bidding of the opposition party should have their mind checked.

The Deputy General Secretary further stated that if the NPP is that powerful to convince highly educated group of professionals like the GMA to do their bidding, then it is an indictment on the government.
