Amaliba Slams WAEC...

A Legal Practitioner Lawyer Abraham Amaliba has condemned the cancellation of some WASSCE papers of 453 candidates by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

He said the move is in contravention with the laws of Ghana. WAEC has cancelled the entire results of 453 students who took part in this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to them, some 119 schools are also being investigated for engaging in mass cheating during the exams.

But Speaking to Adom News, lawyer Amaliba said the fact that all the students whose papers were cancelled were not given the opportunity to fair hearing before the cancellation makes it unlawful.

He noted that WAEC’s are against the ruling of the Supreme Court and the rules of natural justice which states that a person cannot be punished without a fair hearing.

Abraham Amaliba urged parents of wards affected to sue WAEC for their unfortunate action.

Meanwhile, WAEC says they are ready for a legal battle should anyone decides to file a legal suit against them for cancelling the papers.

The Public Relation Officer for WAEC, Agnes Teye- Cudjoe said they have evidence to back their actions.
