Act Swiftly To Clean Payroll

Mr. Richard Aidoo, the Project Coordinator of the Electronic Salary Payment Validation Project, has urged heads of government institutions to properly monitor and validate their staff to ensure that the payroll is always clean. The names of the deceased, retired, resigned as well as those who have vacated their posts must be removed from the Governments pay roll to save the nation from loss of revenue, he advised. Mr. Aidoo told the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi during the training for heads of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies on how to generate reports on the electronic salary payment voucher system in the Western Region. The participants learnt new ways of generating reports for the Controller and Accountant Generals Department after Salaries had been paid. Mr. Stephen Opoku-Mensah, the Western Regional Director of the Controller and Accountant Generals Department, said the system had 24 standard reports which had been categorised into statistical, general, and financial modules. He said it was imperative that heads of departments generated those reports monthly for analysis, record keeping, and decision making.
