More People Dying At Brong-Ahafo

More people are dying at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani, following the industrial unrest of members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

A security source at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Hospital told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a visit on Wednesday that, he could count as much as 30 deaths since last week, saying, many of them died because there were no doctors to attend to them.

“Those who even died at night are not part,” it said.

According to the source, nurses at the facility had failed to attend to, and admit the many patients who thronged the facility daily.

The nurses are only attending to patients who are already on admission.

During the visit, many patients were seen desperately hawking at the hospital, while some of them were also seen arriving to seek medication.

One of the doctors who was found walking around the hospital declined to comment on the issue.

All attempts to contact Dr Jacob Yaw Abebrese, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, failed, as he was not on duty, while his mobile phone was switched off.
