<<Print>>The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has extended his deepest condolence to the chiefs and people of the Okuapeman Traditional Area following the death of the Omanhene, Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III.
At a meeting of the Okuapeman Traditional Council convened at the Okuapeman Ahenfie on Friday, August 14, 2015, Nana Akufo-Addo, together with some leading members of the NPP, told the chiefs they were there to mourn with them on their loss.
Briefing the NPP flagbearer at the meeting, the Acting President of the Okuapeman Traditional Area, Nana Gyan Kwasi II, who is also the Aburihene and the Adontenhene of Okuapeman, stated that they had gathered to finalise arrangements for the funeral rites for the late Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III.
"We want to thank Nana Akufo-Addo for his presence here this afternoon. We were told he would be coming here, and true to his word he is here. Okuapeman is gathered here today because of the passing of our paramount chief and we are grateful for your presence," he said.
Nana Akufo-Addo told Nana Gyan Kwasi II that "I am here this afternoon because of what has befallen this House. On behalf of the biggest political party in Ghana, the New Patriotic Party, we are here to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the chiefs and people of Okuapeman."
Extolling the virtues of the late Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III, Nana Akufo-Addo stated that "his name is a household name in every part of the country because of his wisdom, and the significant contributions he made in promoting good governance and in the development of Ghana. I am also happy that he left a legacy of a united Okuapeman before he went on to join his ancestors.”
The NPP flagbearer assured the chiefs and people of Okuapeman that they could count on him and the NPP to fully support the funeral rites and burial ceremony of the late paramount chief.
On the election of a successor to the late paramount chief, Nana Akufo-Addo called for a process devoid of acrimony, stressing that "the selection of his successor must be smooth and seamless in honour of Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III."
The NPP donated a carton of schnapps, cartons of bottled water, crates of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and GH¢2,000.
Prior to his call at the Ahenfie, Nana Akufo-Addo had called on the queenmother of the Okuapeman Traditional Area, Nana Dokua II, to offer his sympathies.
