GHASALC Prepares For The Next Game

Come September 12, athleticism will meet wit, team work, strategy and determination as members of the Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHASALC) prepare assiduously for the second edition of GHASALC games.

Aside the sporting activities, the annual games serve as a platform for networking and ideas sharing for members of the fraternity.

Regarded as the biggest gathering of businesses and professionals in the Savings and Loans sector, this year’s GHASALC games promises to be more exciting with the announcement of Best Point Savings and Loans as the main sponsor of the much anticipated event.

The competitiveness of last year’s games made participating teams fix their eyes firmly on the ultimate gold trophy. Global Access Savings and Loans eventually had the ultimate bragging rights as they emerged winners of the maiden edition of the GHASALC games and walked home with the trophy.

Global Access beat First Allied Savings and Loans Company while Utrak Savings & Loans Company and Opportunity International placed third and fourth respectively.

Eunice Brako Marko, General Secretary of GHASALC said: “The gala last year gave our members an opportunity to share ideas on ways to expand financial service accessibility to the unbanked and those who are underserved by commercial banks.” Headline Sponsor of last year’s Games, Mr Kwame Owusu-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity International Savings and Loans Limited (OISL) has expressed his company’s battle readiness for the games. “My team is well prepared and we are not giving chance to any team at all, We had so much fun last year and we anticipate a better performance as we intend to take all trophies to our Head Office” he said.

All 24 members of GHASALC would battle it out for the ultimate trophy through knockout phases with winners at each round progressing to the next stage of the competition. The stakes are high this time round as more trophies and more activities have been added to the games.

Aside football, the other competitive games for this year’s event include volleyball, sack race, scrabble, oware, 100 meter dash and Jama competition. The GHASALC games, comes off at Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra. So which savings and loans company will stand tall and have bragging rights at this year’s GHASALC games?
