Mad Rush for NDC Nomination Forms In Northern region

There was shortage of nomination forms in five constituencies in the Northern region on the first day of opening nominations for parliamentary primaries in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The five constituencies are: Bimbila, Kpandai, Savelugu, Yendi and Tamale North.

The NDC opened the nominations on Thursday August 27 and would close it on Thursday, September 10, 2015 for the primaries which would be held in November.

In an interview with Graphic Online, the Northern Regional Director of Elections of the party, Mr Rashid Computer Tankoh, said each of the 31 constituencies in the region was given five nominations forms for a start and that in total 310 nomination forms were sent to the Northern region.

He said all constituencies which have run out of the nomination forms have been supplied with more. He said that was an indication that the NDC was a vibrant party.

Mr Tankoh who is also the Northern Regional Treasurer of NDC said the mad rush for the nominations forms was as because people believed in the party.

“The enthusiasm is very high and this shows that NDC is still strong in the region”, he stated.

He said the expansion of the party’s electoral college was also a motivating factor influencing many party members to go for the nomination forms.
