MUSIGA Grand Ball Comes Off On Friday

The flagship event of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), MUSIGA Grand Ball comes off on Friday, September 4, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra. According to MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, all is set for the big event come Friday. �This year�s is the third edition and we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it is another success story,�� he told Showbiz on Tuesday. The event is to raise funds for the ageing musicians welfare fund which supports musicians who are 60 years and above and also assist musicians who are bereaved and incapacitated. He revealed that last year, they raised GHc100,000 and the target for this year is GHc200,000. In addition to raising funds, there will be the Music Industry Pillar Awards which has been established as one of the true benchmarks of outstanding contributions to the overall development of the Ghanaian music industry. Past winners of this award are former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Dr Osei Kwame Despite and Midland Savings and Loans. Obour added that recipients of the award this year are Dr Kwabena Duffour, Ernest Ofori Sarpong of Special Ice and Apostle Kwadwo Safo of Kristo Asafo. The MUSIGA Grand Ball has always had President John Dramani Mahama as its distinguished Guest Patron. This year, however, former President John Agyekum Kufour will also grace the event. The evening which promises to be a night of authentic music, comedy, dining and awards will see performances from celebrated artistes such as Daddy Lumba, Rex Omar, Becca, Paapa Yankson, George Darko and Bisa Kdei. Others are Grace Ashy, Nana Ampadu, Bessa Simons, Obuoba J.A. Adofo, Ozimzim Band and many other top Ghanaian artistes.
