Kotoko GM Breaks Silence On FA Cup Finals

General Manager of Asante Kotoko, Opoku Nti has stated that, had it not been for MTN, Kotoko would have discontinued the finals of the FA Cup game against Medeama after a goal was disallowed in favour of Medeama SC Richard Mpongs disallowed goal, which would have leveled the score to 2-2 but was ruled foul for Medeama by referee Joseph Lamptey following an instruction from the assistant referee A.S Malik. The General Manager of the Porcupines said it took them the glimpse of their headlines sponsor to have given a second thought by completely pulling out of the game after the incident. Opoku Nti speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Fox FM disclosed that, they nearly boycotted the finals had it not been MTN the Headline sponsor of Kokoto and also the title sponsor of the FA Cup competition. Had it not been MTN we would have boycotted the game after the goal was disallowed but because MTN is also our sponsor, we played on ,he said. Kotoko may go trophyless after missing out on the MTN FA cup title. The Kumasi based side is currently 3rd on the First Capital Plus premier league table on 42 points with just two matches to go.
