In what could be described as vindication of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s wise maxim that “it is better to be messenger in a ruling party than General Secretary of an opposition party,” self-acclaimed financier of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, has revealed that Chief of Staff in the erstwhile NPP administration, Kwadwo Mpiani is broke.
The onetime resourceful and powerful figure in the NPP, the acerbic tongue legislator for the Assin Central constituency disclosed, has gone bankrupt to the extent he could not raise GH¢10,000 to redo his fence wall damaged as a result of the June 3 floods.
The Assin Central MP, who is close confidant of NPP’s 2016 flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, without mincing words, noted that due to Kwadwo Mpiani’s present financial predicament he wholeheartedly accepted a GH¢10,000 bribe in exchange for pledge to rundown Nana Akufo-Addo.
While exhibiting his usual aversion for National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, accusing them of taking bribes to deny Nana Akufo Addo victory in the 2016 election, Kennedy Agyepong said “They always go for a meeting in Kwadwo Mpiani’s house and close at 2:00 am all to destroy Nana Addo…who was given Ghs10,000 to fix his wall after it collapsed after a rainstorm?” Ken Agyapong queried
Sharing his thoughts on ongoing rumpus in the NPP which is threatening its cohesion ahead of the 2016 elections on Adom TV’s ‘Badwam’, the Assin Central MP accused the Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong of taking bribes to sabotage the fortunes of the NPP.
“They have been taking bribes from the NDC, and that makes them think they are tough, their interest is [that] they are better off under an NDC government than when NPP comes to power, that is why Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong and their cronies are doing that…,” he said.
He said since Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong were elected in the Tamale congress, they, together with their aides, have been working to sabotage Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to him, Paul Afoko has been leaking serious party information to pro-NDC media as a means of attracting favor from the government.
“Afoko has been taking anything in the NPP to radio, when you go to his house, you will only see pro-NDC newspapers in his house…why don’t you want us to speak the truth…Kwabena Agyepong and Afoko can go to hell…,” he declared.
He further claimed that the two have been meeting at the residence of former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani, to strategize on how to sabotage Nana Akufo-Addo.
