Swift Handling Of Anas Expos UnfortunateVideo-Tape Not Conclusive Evidence NPP MP

Some lawyers seem to be against the immediate response by the Judicial Council over the corruption scandal that has hit Ghana’s judiciary, following the recent investigative work by ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas of the New Crusading Guide.

Among them is a legal practitioner and Member of Parliament for Asante Akim Central constituency, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi.

The NPP MP described the swift handing on the case as “unfortunate” – although there is an alleged concrete evidence to demonstrate.

He bemoaned that - “tape evidence is not conclusive evidence,” hence it would have been fair for the Council to exhaust the legalities involved with the process before administering the appropriate and disciplinary action.

He said the process has been commenced under Article 146(3) of the 1992 constitution, it would have been prudent to follow all the procedural steps under this provision.

Twenty-two judges were cited in bribery scandal - 12 High Court Judge have been suspended by the Judicial Council following world-class investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposé.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia, Lawyer Anyimadu faulted the Judicial Council for the swift disciplinary action taken on the matter that saw some Judges and magistrates being suspended.
