NHIA To Clear March Arrears This Week

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has said monies owed subscribers for March 2015 would be cleared this week. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the authority, Nathaniel Otoo, who disclosed this, however, pleaded with service providers to accept the money regardless of how meagre it may be. He assured them that effort is being made to clear more of their arrears. Addressing a meeting of District Directors of Health Services Group in Kumasi, Mr Otoo admitted that the NHIA is bedevilled with challenges, but said steps are being taken to re-position the authority. The new NHIA CEO said he has assumed duty with a vision to transform the authority. Part of the vision is to strengthen the relationship between the authority and its clients. By this, the authority will closely collaborate with all the partners, particularly the service providers, to identify the common problems that undermine the scheme, and to find the solutions that can enable it to perform better. Mr Otoo said as part of the strategies to strengthen the partnership, very soon, some of the staff of the NHIA will be visiting the service providers to help them resolve some of their challenges.
