Ohene Ntow Blames Police Over Agbogbloshie Clash

The General Secretary of the main opposition political party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Ohene Ntow, has laid blame in yesterdays incident that claimed 3 lives in Agbogbloshie squarely at the doorstep of the police. He said that no political party should be blamed for the incidence since it was a security matter. Speaking on Peace fms Morning Show, KOKROKOO, Nana Ohene Ntow, revealed that the police have openly acknowledged they are aware of criminal dens in Agbogbloshie, but has not been effective in tracking the criminals down. The NPP Scribe also blamed the police for the delays in making public, findings of earlier investigations into unwarranted attacks on civilians in Agbogbloshie. According to him, prior to the 2008 Elections, a similar incident occurred in the same locality, which resulted in the death of some people, but the police concluded that it was a chieftaincy issue, even though everything pointed out to the contrary, that it was a politically motivated attack. On his part, the Deputy National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, lamented over the constant pointing of accusing fingers at politicians, especially members of the NPP and NDC, whenever there is a clash between any two factions in the country. He said he was also disappointed at the manner at which such sensitive issues, like what happened at the Agbogbloshie market, which led to the death of three people, are handled. He suggested a meeting with representatives of both parties for a peace talk considering that there is an upcoming bye-election in the Northern Region. This is a big worry, because there is an impending by-election at Chereponi and these clashes can result in a spillover, he lamented.
