We Are Targeting More Seats In 2016 CPP

The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) is re-strategizing to increase its seats in Parliament. General Secretary of the party, Ivor Greenstreet on Eyewitness News indicated that the party is working on getting some quality candidates who will emerge winners in the 2016 parliamentary elections. We can get 18,000 votes and still lose an election so the most important is how to focus less logistics and less money that we have in comparison with the main opposition party and the ruling party and how we target those resources to key areas and ensure that we get some quality candidates who will be victorious in parliamentary elections come 2016. The only Member of Parliament for the CPP after the 2008 elections, Samia Nkrumah lost her Jomoro seat in 2012 to the current minister of energy, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah. However Mr. Greenstreet indicated that the party is putting in place measures to regain the Jomoro seat. The party is focusing on regaining the Jomoro seat and working out other seats to increase our representation in Parliament, he emphasized. Speaking on the partys congress, Greenstreet said people are still trooping in from various regions to participate in the congress. The tension and excitement is gradually building up. Some of the buses from the Northern part and Western region have arrived. The congress will take place at Sunyani polytechnic campus and about 2,500 delegates from all 10 regions across the country are expected to take part in the event.
