Parliament receives cheque for families of deceased MPs

The Management of Gimini Life Insurance Company (GLICO), on Friday presented cheque for GH�40, 000.00 meant for the families of two Members of Parliament (MPs), who died this year, to leadership of the House. The deceased legislators are Mr. Edward Salia, former MP for Jirapa and Mrs. Doris Asibi Seidu, former MP for Chereponi. Mr. Emmanuel Edor, Assistant General Manager Incharge of Marketing, GILCO, who presented the cheque, commended MPs for taking the comprehensive insurance, which would benefit their spouses in the event of their death. He appealed to all government workers and those in the private sector to avail themselves to insurance policies so that their children and other dependants would not suffer in the event of their death. Mr. Ambrose Dery, Minority Leader, commended GLICO for acting swiftly to pay insurance claims to the families of the deceased MPs. He appealed to the Company to also make their services available to the public as a lot of people were still not adequately educated on insurance policies. Mr. Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, who received the cheque, commended the Company for its quick response and pledged that the cheque would be given to the rightful beneficiaries.
