Prez Mahama Must Leave A Legacy Of Good Governance Devoid Of Corruption - Dr. Opuni-Frimpong

The judicial system has been hit by a bribery scandal following a two-year investigation into corruption in the judiciary by world renowned investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

12 judges of the High Court, 22 Circuit Court judges and magistrates, court officials and police officers were caught on camera allegedly taking bribe.

According to the General Secretary of the Christian Council, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Ghana is fast decomposing due to societal profligacy taking place in every sector of the country including churches.

Buttressing further the need for national reforms, Dr. Opuni-Frimpong on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show said without legally bided national reforms, the country will soon be eluded over by corruption as peoples’ cocoa farms have been taken over by illegal miners without restrictions.

He maintained that so long as chiefs continue to sell a portion of land to several people and pastors still engage in activities that undermine the interest of the church members, the country does not need heavenly angels to preach change of mindsets but strictly followed reforms are needed.

Dr. Opuni-Frimpong feared the judicial bribery scandal has heightened the rotten nature of the country; adding it is the reason the Christian Council is calling for national reforms which have legal biding to fight corruption head-on.

“..Chiefs are selling one land to several people; when you take almost every sector in this country, the bad things we know about ourselves are nasty. When it comes to politics, government only constructs roads and fixes electricity pools because of by-election; if we can do this, why wait till by-election?”

“Due to parliamentary primaries, people are seen distributing bags of rice and others are pouring acid on their members because of misunderstanding in politics,” he lamented.

“The kind of lifestyle we are portraying in this country, we don’t need heavenly angels to tell us that we need to change our mindsets...everybody must stand up; the clergy and the chiefs and the President himself should leave a legacy that his 8 years or more in power, he will ensure transparency and good governance devoid of corruption,” he charged.
