Prez Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama Lose Uncle

The death is reported of Alhaji Abu Jajah, an uncle of President John Dramani Mahama and his younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama and also, a board member of the Public Procurement Authority.

The late prominent businessman of Gonjand and Patron of Guans Association of Ghana, Alhaji Abu Jajah, who was the Chief Executive of Jasmedi Group of Companies died at the Korle-BU teaching hospital on October 2, 2015 and was buried the next day at his hometown, Bole, in line with Islamic customs and tradition.

His death came as a shock to many, including President Mahama, who is outside the country on international assignment, and the entire Jajah and Mahama family.

In a short tribute, President John Mama wrote, “So sad! We lost Alhaji Abu Jajah. He was the head of family. He left such a huge vacuum, but God/Allah knows best.”

“From the Korle- Bu teaching hospital; to the residence in Accra; to the Airforce base; to Wa and to Bole, was simply that of grief and open cries by even men who usually hold on to their tears”, the Public Relations Officer of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Haruna Mahama, stated.

In the absence of President Mahama, the Chief Executive of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, The aL-hAJJ gathered, took charge of the funeral and quickly arranged for the mortal remains to be airlifted to Bole for burial.

He was reported to be the first to get to the family house of the deceased and, like a speed of light, arranged three airplanes including his own private jet to covey family members, sympathisers as well as government officials to Bole for the burial last Saturday.

Aside, the business mogul was also reported to have dispatched eight land cruiser vehicles to transport persons who were interested in travelling from Accra to Bole for the burial rites of the late Abu Jajah.

To the many who thronged to the Jajah family house in Bole, Ibrahim Mahama, despite the president’s absence from the country, stood in for the Mahama family and gave their uncle a befitting burial.

Alhaji Abu Jajah left behind two wives and ten children. He was for long period, senior manager of the Ghana Commercial bank. May his soul rest in peace.
